很多人都会说，学英文的根本就是要背单字！
但却老是背了又忘，忘了重背，
其实是因为我们平常都死背单字。

中文有部首，英文当然也有类似的概念，
例如： foresee（预见）就可以拆成 fore 和 see，
fore 可以联想到 forehead（额头），有往前的意思；
see 则是看，合在一起就是往前看，也就是预见啦！

在英文中我们称为字根(root)、字首(prefix)、字尾(suffix)

今天，我们就来介绍一些简单常见的字根，
帮助大家拆（猜）解单字，背单字能无往不利！

i / ig / il / im / in / ir / un / dis = not 否定／不

这些字首可以说是否定的入门款了，
通常会是这些字首加上一个本来的单字，形成否定的单字

im ＋ possible（可能的）= impossible 不可能的

What!? It's impossible!
什么!? 这不可能吧！

in ＋ credible（可信的）= incredible 无法置信的、不可思议的

Did Sandy really cheat? That's incredible.
Sandy真的作弊吗？真是无法置信。

其实要分辨什么时候用 "im" 还是 "in" 其实很简单，
如果否定后面接的单字开头是需要闭起嘴巴发音的字母，
就使用 "im"，因为这样比较好发音！
当然，如果像是 incredible 就使用 "in"。

ir ＋ regular（常规的）= irregular 不规则的

She keeps irregular hours. No wonder she looks so tired.
她作息不正常，难怪看起来那么累。

un ＋ do（做）= undo 复原（可以理解成回复到没做的状态）

What's done cannot be undone.
覆水难收。

un ＋ able（能够）= unable 无法、不能

I'm unable to answer this question.
我无法回答这个问题。

dis ＋ abled（健全的）= disabled 残疾的

After the accident, he became disabled.
那场事故后，他终身残疾。

co / col / com / con = together 一起／共同／相互

co ＋ worker（工作者）= coworker 同事

We are just coworkers. That's all.
我们只是同事，仅此而已。

col ＋ league（联盟）= colleague 同事

She's my colleague.
她是我的同事。

con ＋ cord（绳、带）= concord 和谐、一致

We and our neighbors live in concord.
我们和邻居和睦相处。

in / im = in 里面；ex = out 外面／former 之前

im ＋ migrate（迁移）= immigrate（移入）移民

They are immigrates in 1970s.
他们是七十年代的移民。

ex ＋ port（港口）= export 出口

Agriculture produce is the country's main exports.
这个国家主要出口为农产品。

ex ＋ boyfriend / girlfriend（男／女朋友）= ex-boyfriend / ex-girlfriend 前男友／前女友

Sam bumped into his ex-girlfriend at cafe.
Sam 在咖啡厅遇到前女友。

"ex" 也可以直接当作「前任」的意思喔！

re = back 回复／again 再

re ＋ cycle（循环）= recycle 回收（再循环）

Everyone should recycle the battery indeed.
大家都该确实回收电池。

re ＋ view（观看）= review 复习（再看一次）

I have no time to review my English class.
我没时间复习我的英文课。

英文的字根、字首、字尾有很多种，
无法在一篇部落个文章中涵盖全部，
不过只要认识越多，背起单字可说是事半功倍！
