Students have fewer English lessons now and that should be another reason not to learn it, right?

Well, this is certainly what many parents think, but I reckon that this is both right and wrong.

Now, hear me out.

It is right because there is no more boring memorization just for the sake of passing a test.

You also don't need to spend a lot of time and money on extra English classes.

That's good.

Now, why is this wrong then?

The country's reform in education is somehow exactly in line with the way I and my colleagues have been teaching in China for so many years.

The focus is on cultivating language skills to make sure that children have an international mindset and grow as global citizens equipped with analytical and critical thinking skills.

Now, before that, many parents were struggling with whether to choose a test-oriented curriculum or find one that offers a more holistic approach to English language teaching.

And this is the moment when most of your concerns have been addressed.

No need to learn English because it's yang qi or because that's what everybody else is doing.

Now, the key is to have a better understanding of the world's history, culture, and have a look at all the opportunities around you.

I think that this is also the reason why an increasing number of people are learning Chinese now.

My wife often says, do you know that there is a saying in China called, come but never die, fly for a night.
