Hey guys, I'm back.

I'm not a Xiao Yanger anymore.

And I thought that to make this comeback a little more relaxing,I'm not going to tell you anything about English learning and ways to do it better.

I'm just going to tell you a story.

Now everybody likes listening to stories.

And so here's one for you.

So about five years ago, I lived in Beijing's Haidian District, more precisely Zhongguancun area.

Everybody knows what Haidian is, what Haidian's baba mama means.

And so no wonder why there are so many outstanding students in that area.

And also some of the best universities in the country.

And so at that time, I was tutoring a couple of students.

And one of them was a six-year-old boy named David.

And I'll tell you what, he's one of the fastest progressing studentsI've ever taught in my entire teaching career.

Now right from the start, I noticed something different about this guy.

He was carrying a little thing around.

And it was a small MP3 player.

And I thought to myself, that's interesting.

So just think about it.

We're having a class.

We're learning about 10 to 15 new words and a couple of sentence structures, which is already a lot for that age.

And the next time we have a class, not only is he able to use all of those words,it means that he learned them successfully,he's also able to incorporate them in his speechwith all the sentence patterns that we studied in our previous lessonsand even earlier.

On top of that, his pronunciation is pretty much the same as kids in America or in Canada.

And something that I thought was totally mind-blowing is thathe knew all the ancient Greek gods and could talk for hours about them.

And so now you're probably thinking, how is that even possible?

Well, I'll tell you what.

There's two things.

Number one, his room was filled with books in English.

At the age of six, he had read about two or three hundred of them.

And I thought to myself, hmm, that is interesting.

Oh, and remember that little MP3 player he was carrying around?

He would use it to listen to all the stories to learn correct standard pronunciation.

Now that's what I call yin-yu qi-meng, done right.

And so if you're a parent who doesn't know how to start learning Englishand how to do it in the best possible way, take this as an example.

Listen to stories to learn correct pronunciation.

Watch cartoons, listen to songs.

And once your kid starts talking, give him an opportunity to practice his speaking.

Now after that, learn phonics and then move on to reading.

And you'll be totally blown away by your kid's English levelby the time they go to primary school.

Now if you think that this is impossibleor if you have any other questions, type them in the chat box and we'll talk about it.

All right, everybody.

I hope you enjoyed the story and I'll see you in the next video.
